From Mouthwatering Global Cuisine to Delicious Local Favorites, Here are Three New LA Restaurants You Don’t Want to Miss

In between surfing, hiking to the Hollywood Sign, or cheering on the Dodgers at a home game, it’s easy to work up an appetite in Los Angeles. Luckily, there’s no shortage of delicious food to sample in the City of Angels. In 2020, L.A.’s culinary pedigree will expand even more with the advent of several highly-anticipated restaurants from top-notch chefs. Here are three of the top restaurants you’ll want to score a reservation at in the new year:

Girl & The Goat

Since its inception a decade ago, chef Stephanie Izard’s Girl & The Goat has remained one of the hottest restaurants in Chicago. Tucked into a cozy, wood-lined establishment, Girl & The Goat serves up a family-style menu of boldly-flavored dishes with global influences. (Current menu options include pan-fried shishito peppers, fire-roasted shrimp, milk-braised pork pasta, and goat empanadas.) Guests can choose from a rotating list of craft beers made by local breweries as well as wines sourced from small producers around the globe. In 2020, the cult classic will be making its way to the West Coast, as Izard opens a second outpost in L.A.’s Arts District. Though the menu will resemble the Chicago one, there will also be plenty of L.A.-inspired dishes that incorporate fresh California produce.

Market Tavern

L.A.’s Original Farmers’ Market has long been a popular draw for Angelenos and visitors alike, and in 2020 there will be a whole new reason to visit. Market Tavern, a hybrid between a British pub and a classic California restaurant with a heavy rock ’n’ roll influence, will be setting up shop there. (Yes, it’s bound to be as awesome as it sounds.) Chef Brendan Collins, the visionary behind Santa Monica’s trendy Fia, has teamed up with Gary Twinn (the culinary force behind E.B.’s Beer & Wine and Bar 326 at the Farmers’ Market) to create the restaurant. Market Tavern will include British classics, a full cocktail bar, and a carefully crafted beer menu. It’s bound to be popular with ex-pats and British lovers alike. After all, where else can you watch your favorite teams play while eating an English breakfast or Sunday roast on the weekends?

Gigi’s

Chef Matt Bollinger, who cut his teeth working at kitchens such as Trois Familia and Jean-Georges, will be opening a casual French bistro in Hollywood’s La Brea Corridor in the new year. Bollinger will use local California produce and classic French cooking techniques to bring Angelenos a much-needed dose of French cuisine.
